Radiator Repair and Service

When your vehicle is running, it’s only natural for the engine to warm-up to a certain temperature range. However, it becomes an issue when the engine heats up beyond the desired temperature range because it begins to negatively affect working parts within the engine. In fact, overheating can cause certain components to melt together, leading to the inevitable failure of your engine. Don’t let it get this far- we are here to help you avoid this situation at Garber Chevrolet Saginaw.

Experience the Garber Chevrolet Saginaw Difference

Stand-alone repair shops and dealership service centers are very different entities, especially when it comes to Garber dealership service centers. While average shops may see customers as the perfect opportunity to push unnecessary purchases, our service center at Garber Chevrolet Saginaw focuses solely on listening to your concerns and handling them appropriately.

Our ASE-Certified Technicians are highly-trained experts to take care of all vehicle makes, models, and ages. And we won’t just solve your radiator problems, we provide a 21-point free inspection to verify that other major parts are good to go as well.

Let us show you what it means to be a customer at the service center of Garber Chevrolet Saginaw- drive past other shops and bring your radiator issues right to our front door.

Radiator FAQ’s—

Coolant is passed through the engine block where heat being transferred from the engine is absorbed. The heated coolant is transferred to the core of the radiator where the liquid is circled through the radiator’s tubes. Eventually, the coolant will arrive at a secondary tank where it cools. Once the coolant has lowered in temperature, it is transferred back to the engine where the cycle repeats itself.

If your vehicle is frequently overheating under normal driving conditions, it is a good sign that your radiator is in need of replacement. Your car’s manufacturer may provide recommendations in the owner’s manual regarding when the radiator should be inspected and serviced.

Absolutely! The radiator is an important part of your vehicle for it to operate at full potential and Garber Chevrolet Saginaw is committed to making this happen. Please contact a Garber Chevrolet Saginaw technician with any questions you may have regarding your radiator, or to set up a service appointment.

Everything you need to know about radiators—

Just as sweating helps to keep you cool, the radiator works the same way for the engine. The inner-workings of the car work hard to get you where you need to go and as a result, things can get pretty hot under the hood. The friction, movement, and interaction of your engine’s parts create heat, and in order to maintain a temperature that is not too extreme the engine has built-in devices to keep it cool. The radiator is one of these cooling devices.

To keep the temperature under the hood at a reasonable level, coolant is sent to the engine block to absorb excess heat. After a thermostat adjusts based on the temperature of the fluids, the coolant is transferred to the radiator to remove engine heat. Fans within the radiator use airflow to keep the engine cooled down. Following this process, coolant re-cycles through the engine to repeat the cooling cycle over and over again.

Without engine cooling devices, specifically the radiator, it would be impossible for the engine of your car to stay at a safe temperature for driving. That being said, servicing your radiator is the best way to make certain it is safely keeping your engine cool and not collecting a build-up of contaminants.
