Heating & Air Conditioning Repair

Don’t sweat a broken air conditioning system. Instead, bring your vehicle and any issues it may be experiencing into Garber Chevrolet Saginaw in Saginaw.

Your system could have a fried ventilation fan, a loose hose, or even mold, and you’ll want to resolve these problems sooner rather than later. It’s like an injured athlete who needs time off to heal, but continues to train and ends up needing surgery. What started simple, transformed into complex, expensive, and more destructive. Your car works the same way, especially when it comes to air conditioning and heating repair.

In the event your vehicle needs an inspection, maintenance, or service on the air systems, you’ll have the most success with our professional ASE-Certified Technicians that go the extra mile for you.

Experience the Garber Chevrolet Saginaw Difference

Driving around and pulling into the first repair shop you see is a risk we don’t want you to take. Let’s think about how expensive vehicles are in the first place. This means that all of their working parts are guaranteed to be pricey too, not to mention the cost of servicing them. Considering all of these factors should prompt you to think harder about which service shop you entrust your car to.

The saying at Garber Chevrolet Saginaw that rings familiar with all employees goes like this, “We’re only doing our jobs when we create an experience for the customers for which they choose to return and do business with us again.” Notice how the customer is where we focus our efforts, whereas most repair shops emphasize getting you in-and-out in the blink of an eye, but there’s no way it’s possible to catch everything going on at that speed.

At Garber Chevrolet Saginaw in Saginaw we strive for the most effective service, so we don’t have to see you again tomorrow. We guarantee our work with a courtesy 21-point inspection to make sure visible parts of your vehicle are functioning properly. And, the best part is that we welcome all car makes, models, and ages, whether you bought from us or not.

Air Conditioning System FAQ’s —

There are a number of potential causes for this issue and can be best diagnosed by one of our experienced technicians. There are a few different things that may be occurring, such as:

Clogged Valves – If the valves are clogged, this could result in refrigerant not being delivered properly.

Faulty Fuses – If a fuse is not working, power to essential components of the air conditioning system will likely fail.

Malfunctioning Compressor Clutch – If the clutch is not interacting as it should be with the compressor, then the correct pressure cannot be maintained within the system. As a result, the air that comes into the vehicle’s cabin will be warm.

Leaks – In the air conditioning system, leaks can be brought on by a multitude of reasons. The consequence will always be the same- an air conditioning system that fails to keep you cool.

The main cause is time. As your vehicle ages, the seals, hoses, and other components of your air conditioning system will lose their effectiveness. As the parts age, moisture can enter the system and create even larger problems, such as breaking down the refrigerant- a key component of the air conditioning system.

A few of the common reasons include leaks, clogged hoses, a failed compressor, a blower failure, damaged parts, or a combination of any of those, and more.

Once problems with your air conditioning system begin, they can create a chain effect causing more issues as time passes. That is why it is important to schedule a routine check with your Garber Chevrolet Saginaw technician so any issues can be caught early to minimize damage to your vehicle and your wallet.

Unfortunately, for most vehicles there are not effective warning systems to alert you of air conditioning issues. In some exceptions, your Driver Information Center may provide information on the current condition of your vehicle’s essential functions which could give insight into air conditioning problems. However, your best course of action would be to refer to your owner’s manual or a Garber Chevrolet Saginaw technician to help you determine if the system is actually failing.

When cruising down the road on a hot day, few things are more frustrating than a weakly flowing air conditioning system. As soon as you notice reduced airflow, contact a Garber Chevrolet Saginaw technician to help fix the issue before it causes additional damage and ends up costing you more. There are a few different things that may be occurring, such as:

Mold – As gross as it sounds, mold may be forming in your vents and restricting the level of airflow.

Loose Parts – A loose hose could be allowing air to escape, making the air flow weaker.

Fan Failure – A ventilation fan could be failing which leads to poor air flow.

Ineffective Seals – If a seal is no longer fully effective, it can wreak havoc on the entire air conditioning system.

As if being hot while driving your car wasn’t bad enough, a foul smell inside your vehicle is the icing on the cake. More than likely, the smell comes down to one of two possibilities: a dirty cabin filter or an evaporator case that has fallen victim to mold. Your Garber Chevrolet Saginaw technician can easily solve either issue for you.

Garber Chevrolet Saginaw takes pride in repairing all vehicle makes, models, and ages. Whether you purchased your car from us or another dealership, we are happy to help with your vehicle needs. Everything you need to know about air conditioning & heating —

The air conditioning system in a vehicle uses a high and low pressure system fused together to manipulate the refrigerant, or cooling substance used to keep you cool. The goal of an air conditioning system is simple: cool the air and remove humidity from the area. There are three main parts to an automotive air conditioning system: the compressor, the condenser, and the evaporator.

This leads from the engine to the passenger cabin.

The pump is composed of a belt which is directly attached to the crankshaft of the engine. When the refrigerant is drawn into the compressor, it is in a low pressure gas form. The compressor’s function is to pressurize the gas and force it into the condenser.

The condenser operates similar to a radiator, and serves the same purpose which is keeping your engine cool. The refrigerant sent from the compressor arrives in a pressurized form. The tubes around the condenser cool the refrigerant down and return it to a liquid form. It is a process similar to fog or steam returning to a liquid state. At this point, the liquid refrigerant is a high pressure liquid.

As the high pressurized liquid moves from the condenser, the liquid goes through a reservoir. The receiver-dryer contains small granules that attract water to prevent any water that has entered the system from forming into ice crystals, which would damage the air conditioning system.

Immediately following the receiver-dryer, the liquid is allowed to expand. The expansion helps to reduce the pressure.

This is the first part of the air conditioning system outside of the engine compartment and in the cabin. At this point, the refrigerant enters as a cold, low pressure liquid. The evaporator transforms the cool liquid to air, and then, a fan blows the air into the cabin of the vehicle. The evaporator also takes humidity out of the air which lends to the perception of coolness.

This is the repair that is required when refrigerant in the air conditioning system either needs to be replaced or refilled to ensure the system is functioning properly.

All of this may sound complicated, but your Garber Chevrolet Saginaw technicians are experts in air conditioning systems.
