Chevy Blazer Vs. Hyundai Santa Fe

Chevy Blazer Vs. Hyundai Santa Fe

The 2019 model year brought two stylish, new crossovers to the Saginaw area, the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe and 2019 Chevy Blazer. Both midsize crossovers boast bold looks, the latest in tech, and loads of space, but which one works best for your family? Find out here.

Exterior

The Hyundai Santa Fe is all-new for 2019. This redesigned midsize crossover brings in a sharp new look that includes thin headlights, sharp body lines, a bold grille, and more. The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe also boasts sharp standard features like 17-inch wheels, chrome grille, and LED daytime running lights. Move up in the trim levels, like the Limited and Ultimate, and the Santa Fe gets downright luxurious with LED lighting, 18-inch wheels, rain-sensing wipers, and more.

The 2019 Chevy Blazer is all-new, and it is a sight to behold. It boasts strong body lines, a stunning grille, and a slightly forward-leaning rear hatch. An extra dose of creativity comes in the RS trim that includes dark touches, a gloss-black grille, and 20-inch wheels. This look stands out in a crowd, making it a great buy for those who like their car to be the center of a conversation.

In terms of size, the 2019 Blazer is significantly larger than the Santa Fe, making the latter easier to park in tight spaces and zip through traffic with.

Interior

Inside, the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe boasts the typically classy interior the Korean brand is known for. It includes plenty of satin-chrome accents, a dashtop 7-inch touchscreen, a clean center stack, and smooth lines. As you move into higher trim levels, more upscale features like an 8-inch touchscreen, 12-speaker audio system, leather upholstery, ventilated seats, and more add to its classy design.

The 2019 Chevy Blazer takes a sportier interior approach to match its exterior. This cabin boasts round air vents, a slick horizontal applique, and cabin-widening horizontal lines. It also boasts a few more-premium standard features like an 8-inch touchscreen, in-car Wi-Fi, and more. At its highest trims, the Blazer is just as well-equipped as the Santa Fe with leather upholstery, ventilated seats, but its peak audio system is an eight-speaker Bose unit, falling short of the Hyundai by four speakers.

The Santa Fe comes standard with a fair number of desirable standard goodies, including Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch touchscreen, and four USB ports. While these are impressive for its price, they fall short of the Blazer’s standard tech equipment.

The 2019 Santa Fe makes up for its shorter list of tech with plenty of advanced standard safety features to keep you and your family safe, including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, driver-attention warning, adaptive cruise with stop and go, blind-spot warning, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, safe-exit assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Most of these features are available with the Blazer, but they are optional.

Performance

There are two four-cylinder engine options in the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. The base engine is a 2.4-liter unit that cranks out 185 horsepower. The optional unit is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that injects 235 horsepower.

The Blazer’s base 2.5-liter unit is more potent at 193 horsepower, and its 8.1-second 0-to-60 time makes it a half-second quicker to 60 mph than the Santa Fe. The Blazer forgoes a turbo four-pot in favor of a 3.6-liter V-6 that cranks out 308 horsepower and zips it to 60 mph in a spirited 6.1 seconds.

Peak towing falls into the Blazer’s win category at 5,000 pounds, but the Santa Fe’s base 2,000-pound towing capacity beats the base Blazer by 500 pounds.

Who Should Buy the 2019 Chevy Blazer?
